For over a week, 81-year-old Linda Quinn has been self-isolating within her Bellevue, Washington, residence to protect herself from the coronavirus.
Her sole companion during this time has been her goldendoodle, Lucy. To alleviate the loneliness, Quinn’s daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons planned to engage in video chats with her via Zoom, a videoconferencing application. They coordinated to guide her through the process of installing the app on her computer.
However, just five minutes before the scheduled chat last week, Quinn encountered an issue: she hadn’t used her computer in approximately four months and couldn’t recall the password. “My mind just went totally blank,” she admitted.
In a state of panic, Quinn reached out to her grandson, Ben Gode, 20, who had initially set up the computer for her. Gode fortunately remembered the password, enabling the Zoom call and tutorial to proceed. However, Quinn extracted a promise from him not to disclose her technological hiccup to the rest of the family.
